Pastor Chappell and Ms. Joelene have been serving The Sonrise Baptist Church since August of 1997. Pastor Chappell was born again in the summer of 1973 at the Livelystone MBC under Pastor William J. Jenkins Sr. in Chicago. And similar to the prodigal son he strayed from the Father’s house. But in 1989, in Norcross, Georgia he came back to the LORD and began to grow rapidly at the Galilean Baptist Church under Pastor Tolbert S. Moore. In 1995, under the call of God he moved back to Chicago. In 1997 he became the 2nd Pastor of The Sonrise Baptist Church after the founder, Dr. Edwin G. Moore became a missionary to the land of Wales.

Ms. Joelene was born again in North Carolina and received her assurance in Georgia . She teaches the Ladies Sunday School, she is also the Choir Director and Coordinator for the Women of Purpose and is involved in almost every area of the church in some way.
